Miniatures

A cycle of short theatrical miniatures.

Sometimes, on different occasions, something small emerges – not yet a full performance, but a piece that already has something to say and longs to meet an audience. Miniatures are a fleeting realization of the utopia of a small theatre where many such pieces would be performed every day. A spectator could enter, watch one or two miniatures, talk with the actors, and then continue on their way.

1. KONSTANTYN

My father was an artist. Five years ago he died of diabetes. This miniature is an attempt to learn more about him and his work, and perhaps to find a continuation of his artistic legacy. The piece is interwoven with memories of childhood.

2. TREE

Remembering a tree can be almost like remembering a living being – a magical person. How far can humans go in adapting living nature to their own needs? Does a tree suffer? Does it feel betrayed? When a tree is gone, can new life grow from what remains?

3. QUESTIONS WITHOUT ANSWERS

Answers without questions. All the temporarily (un)solvable (non)problems of life in eight minutes.

4. THE PROSTITUTE OF HARLEM

A satirical miniature about a theatre audition that raises questions about the meaning of theatre and about the person who serves it and cannot imagine life without it. It also touches on stereotypes and the search for the "right type", regardless of the actor's individuality. Can an actor live without theatre? What sacrifices are we willing to make in order to do what we love? The feeling that this piece is only about theatre is misleading.

5. MANIFESTO

The world and human society have always inspired, provoked and tempted certain individuals to formulate visions of how the world should be and what principles humanity should follow. It almost never ends well.
